Things I’ve Learned About Ryan

In the short time I’ve been with Ryan, I’ve learned that:
- I know we should be swaddling Ryan, but he hates it. He needs his hands out. Now I understand what all those sudden movements in the womb were. He’s either conducting his own orchestra or shaking his little fists in rage. It’s all really really cute. I want to grab a video, but it’s too dark.
- When he was first home, he was ok with his feet being covered, but now he hates that too. But I don’t mind seeing his little toes poking out.
- He doesn’t like a dirty diaper, but he also doesn’t like being changed.
- When I breast feed him, he likes to have his hands block the breast, making him cry. I’m still trying to figure out how to get around that.
- He’s got the cutest smile when he passes gas.
- He is his father’s son. About two seconds after he was handed off to Henry, he started chewing on his lower lip, something Henry has done most of his life too.
- I’m a multiple sneezer, usually in threes. Ryan sneezes in twos right now. Maybe he’ll grow into the threes.
- Henry and I took a breast feeding class awhile ago, so when I started nursing Ryan, I would use the cross cradle hold. That one didn’t go too well. It usually ended up with breast milk everywhere but in Ryan’s mouth. We also learned the clutch hold, but I’m just not strong enough to use it (kind of like how you would hold a football). I finally discovered that he prefers the cradle hold.
- He doesn’t mind me kissing him all the time now. I gotta get it all in before he’s older and rejects all my kisses.
- I’ve mostly been putting him in onesies. I grab them from the drawer and have usually grabbed ones that are 0-3 months. I grabbed a newborn one today and realized my little Ryan cannot fit the newborn ones. His head is too big. I was wondering why the 0-3 months fit him a little large because at his size I was more concerned that he would be too big. Now I realize I was right that he wouldn’t be able to fit some of his new clothes.

I still think he’s trying to swim with his little hands!
