Photos of Rainbows in Maui
We saw a lot of rainbows while in Maui. We even saw a double rainbow once that I was able to grab pics of. We also saw a moonbow on the way up to the top of Haleakala to watch the sunrise that we didn’t see because of the damn rain and fog, but couldn’t grab a pic, we were a little groggy from lack of sleep. Missing the sunrise was a big bummer since we woke up at 2 AM to get driven up there to watch the sunrise and then bike down the volcano (about 28 miles). The bike ride down was nice, but that’ll be another post.
Anyway, we saw rainbows everywhere. We pulled over the side of the road so I could get some pics. I’m sure the locals who see rainbows regularly thought we were crazy. Grabbing the shots of the double rainbow were hard because I couldn’t really see either in the on the screen of my camera so I was blindly aiming, but I got a couple of shots.

after reading that it has been described to a religious experience, i was extremely disappointed not to see the damn sunrise, but it’s good to know that i’m not the only one who missed it.

Everyone I know who got up to see the sunrise at Haleakala has the same story – it was too foggy or rainy to see anything. I think the famed sunrise may be a scam!
