Food Bar

I met up with Nora for lunch at Food Bar (149 8th Ave between 17th & 18th St), down by her offices. Why Food Bar? They serve breakfast all day and I was in the mood for some pancakes or french toast. I ended up getting their buttermilk pancakes with fresh berries and maple syrup. Nora got the tomato mozzarella sandwich with fresh basil. We ended up splitting our meals. The pancakes were pretty good. The sandwich was not as good. The mozzarella tasted like it was the Polly-O cheese and not fresh mozzarella. It was very salty and didn’t have the taste of fresh mozzarella which was disappointing. The bread was also charred and tasted burnt so we started eating the sandwich without the bread.

My other complaints with our meals? My pancakes was supposed to come with juice and coffee, I didn’t get either. Nora was supposed to be able to choose her bread, but wasn’t given an option either. We have a lot of other options for next time. But Nora’s been there a few times and does recommend it.
