Southbound on 8th Avenue?

On my way to work, I mostly walk on 8th Avenue and avoid Broadway for as long as possible, to avoid the tourists. On this very pleasant morning, while enjoying my brisk walk, in front of me I heard people yelling, but when I looked, it wasn’t a group of tourists, it was a group of random New Yorkers on their way to work. They were all looking down 8th Avenue, so of course, I had to look too. What do I see? Apparently a car turned onto 8th Avenue and was going southbound, except 8th Avenue is one way, going northbound. The driver went at least two blocks going the wrong way, amidst the honking horns and yelling people.

I assume the driver was a tourist, part of me really hopes he got a ticket.
