St. Patrick’s Day Parade
I had to go to the Mac Store on 5th Avenue to help Henry pick up his laptop. I left my apartment around 3:15PM, in hopes of avoiding the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. While walking down 8th and Broadway, I saw crowds and crowds of tourists and kids on spring break, and groups of people who were drunk or were trying to find bars to get drunk. Seriously, big big crowds in my way and slowing me down. I also hate when tourists push and shove you out of the way, when I’m not in the way, without even saying a simple, “Excuse me.” They just push me, I try to stand my ground, but it’s hard when you’re under 100 pounds. Like I have no problem moving, as long as the person is polite. Just simple manners would be nice, and they say the New Yorkers are rude, maybe it’s all the damn tourists who are rude.
Anyway I hit 5th Avenue and the parade was still going on. The time it took me to walk to 5th Avenue was equal to the time it took me to cross 5th Avenue and cross back. But I got to see glimpses of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Did you know those flags that the people in the parade hold are actually strapped to them? I had no clue until I saw it. It was also weird because I would see groups of schools, but then also there would be groups of families, like I would see groups with mothers and fathers and their little children. Is that common? Maybe I’ll never know.
