Shopping in Herald’s Square
Henry and I ventured out to 34th Street today to go to Macy’s, Manhattan Mall and stores around that area. We had to fight through the Times Square crowds and the crowds around Herald Square. It was crazy. Henry didn’t find anything to buy. I bought two sweaters from Zara and a pair of pants and a shirt from Express. I love when you’re paying at Express and they insist they need your phone number. (Side note: Nora and I were at Victoria’s Secret awhile ago and they insisted they needed a phone number too and Nora asked why and the girl’s reply was so that they can send you coupons in the mail. It didn’t make a whole lot of sense to me then and still doesn’t now. Can they figure out your address with your phone number, even if it is your cellphone number?) Anyway, I told the woman that I didn’t have a phone number and she stressed that she needed a phone number, so I insisted to her that I didn’t have a home phone number. She didn’t want to let it drop, but what is she going to do, not ring up my sale?
Macy’s was packed! Just seeing all the people in there and outside looking at the displays discourage me from shopping in there. The lines are long, there are too many people inside (and outside) pushing and shoving and I just never want something that badly to wait in line for stuff. I looked at the men’s stuff with Henry, but we left after about 15 minutes.
Manhattan Mall was pretty pathetic. They have so few stores now and it’s not worth trekking the few blocks over and fighting through the crowds to get there.
I hope to do most (if not all) my Christmas shopping online this year, but I’ve said that the last few years and have not been successful yet. Maybe this year will be different…

I’ve read some good stuff here. Definitely worth bookmarking for revisiting.
