Laundry for Two

Henry and I do laundry about once every three weeks, sometimes it will be four. When we were still in Flushing, we actually didn’t do our own laundry. There was a laundromat around us that charged 45¢/pound, which was amazingly cheap. There was also one guy there would would always round down for us. I brought in what should have been $18+ but he was like, “How about $15?” and he would also help me bring the bags to the cars (with three weeks of laundry, it was usually two laundry bags full of clothes), the women there barely helped me bring the laundry bag down from the top of the washing machines. Anyway, it’s a pain now because I’m actually doing our laundry again. How often does your average couple do of laundry? Is three loads excessive? I’ve been doing two loads of color and one load of white, is that normal? I would love to just have someone do my laundry for me, but it’ll be way too expensive.

Update: I asked a place around here and they charge $1.50/lb!! That’s insane.

oda, i do about a load of colors every three days, and a load of whites every week. so that’s about 2 loads of colors and a load of whites every week. that’s for one adult, and two kids, which should equal about 2 whole people.

oh, here’s something that’ll make you crazy. a two bedroom apt here, about 1150 sq ft, with 2 baths, comes with all appliances (fridge, dishwasher, microwave), plus a full size washer and dryer IN the apt, costs about 970 a month. oh, also a balcony and fireplace.

WOW! So you do a lot more laundry than I do. It’s insane!

$970 a month!!! That’s INSANE! You’ve seen our Hell’s Kitchen apartment, I’m so jealous. Balcony, fireplace, all applicances? Makes me kind of want to move out to PA.

[...] I stumbled upon this site (fold-your-shirt.com) that teaches you how to fold shirts. I watched it, thought it was pretty cool and forgot about it. But the last time I was doing laundry, I forced Henry to fold his own shirts because most of the shirts washed were his white undershirts. He remembered stumbling onto that site too, so he loaded it up to learn how to fold his shirts in a way that I would approve, else he would have to refold it. I am a tyrant! He watched the clip a couple of times and folded all his undershirts pretty quickly and I approved of how they looked. Give it a try, it is actually pretty quick. Leave a comment [...]
