Grey’s Anatomy – Time Has Come Today
I missed the last few episodes of last season because I was busy quitting my job at TV Guide, visiting LA (and UCLA) with Henry and then visiting Hong Kong/China with my parents. Then when I finally got back, I had two days to rest before I started my new job. Then we moved and when we moved our cable over, the box had to be reset so I lost everything that was on the DVR. But luckily before the season premiere of Grey’s Anatomy they had one of those clip shows and I feel like I’ve been caught up suitably.
There were so many storylines covered in the premiere, I don’t even know where to begin. There was:
- Izzie mourning Denny’s death
- Omar and Gisele, two patients who were exposed to the plague
- Addison and Alex working on saving a baby’s life
- George and Derek being quarantined together
- Meredith having to deal with the ramifications of sleeping with Derek
Izzie eventually gets up off the bathroom floor (I wish my bathroom floor was that clean!) and Meredith helps her change out of her prom dress.
Omar and Gisele were on the way to the hospital because they seem to have a severe flu, but Gisele falls asleep at the wheel. Derek has to operate on her. After the operation, they find out that Omar and Gisele have been exposed to the plaque and they are quarantined. Miranda talks to Omar while he is quarantined alone and then has the difficult task of telling Omar that his wife did not make it and tries to comfort him through the door.
Addison and Alex work together to try saving a baby’s life after he was left in a garbage can. His mother is a 14 year old girl. There are four girls brought in and they have to figure out which one is the mother. When Addison narrows it down to two girls with blood tests, one of them finally admits to being the mother.
George and Derek are both quarantined together. Both were on their way to Meredith’s house. They bond, in their own way. George tells Derek that Callie told him she loves him and he didn’t say it back. He feels he will love her soonish. Derek tells him to tell her before someone else comes along. George asks him if he ever told Meredith that he loves her, he tells George that he never did.
Finn goes to the house to talk to Meredith, but she runs to talk to Izzie. Callie talks to him and tries to explain that they are all really high school kids with scalpels and are socially inept. When Meredith returns, Finn tells her that he doesn’t want to know what happened with Derek but he is throwing his hat in the ring for her. He also says that he is good for her, Derek is not.
After George and Derek are released from the quarantine, Callie runs to George and hugs and kisses him. He hugs and kisses her back but doesn’t tell her he loves her while Derek is watching on. Derek tells Meredith that he loves her and will give her time to make her decision because when he had a choice to make, he made the wrong one. Poor Addy.
There were also flashbacks to the first time the interns met the day before they were to start their internship. Izzie seemed so innocent and naive, Alex was arrogant and predicted that she won’t make it through her first year, George infatuated with Meredith at first sight, Meredith oblivious to George, Alex leaving with Olivia and Cristina and Burke’s first meeting. We also see when Derek and Meredith first meet at Joe’s bar. There is also a flashback to when Derek leaves Addison after he finds out she slept with his best friend Mark.
I can’t wait for the next episode!
