Lazy Saturday

I love Saturdays, there’s no work that day or the next day. I woke up pretty early, made Henry some breakfast so he’d have something in his stomach for his golf game and went to a pilates class with Nora. Afterwards we came back here to make energy bars. We saw it on Healthy Appetite with Ellie Krieger on the Food Network. It looked easy to make so we gave it a try. But we added to the recipe, we also put golden raisins, some vanilla and almond extract, pecans, walnuts, a lot more dried fruit and a wider variety (like apples, cranberries, apricots, etc.), granola and used honey instead of maple syrup. The only problem was I only put in one egg and probably not enough honey to keep the whole thing binded well. The parts that didn’t bind would be good as granola or to put in our oatmeal. After Nora left, I’ll admit it, I took a nap. I napped until Henry called to tell me he was done with golf.

Henry and Vinny came back so we had a quick meal of dumplings and noodles then went out to the pitch and putt at Flushing Meadows Park. Yes, Henry and Vinny had already played 18 holes and were playing again. I had fun, but my putting was horrendous. Vinny tried helping me with my chipping, it helped a little, I just need to practice more. My pitching started getting good at the end of the front nine and was pretty impressive the back nine. Needless to say, I did better on the back nine. I’d love to go again tomorrow or go to a course. I’m addicted, but just not as crazy as the guys. We also saw a guy we went to high school with after we were done. I had so many classes with him and since his last name is also Chan, I sat behind him in all the classes we had together, but he didn’t recognize me at first, he recognzied Henry but called him Herman.

We dropped off Vinny and was going to catch either Superman or Pirates of the Caribbean. We get to the theater and have the hardest time finding parking. We finally find parking only to find out that they are completely sold out for Superman and sold out till the 12:40AM showing for Pirates of the Carribbean. We ended up just going grocery shopping at Pathmark, but we desperarately needed food. We’re aiming to catch the matinee of Superman tomorrrow, but we’ll see if we actually wake up in time.
