NYU Preview Weekend

Henry and I spent yesterday and today previewing NYU since Henry may be going to Stern to get his MBA (or UCLA, we’re flying out tomorrow). We met a lot of people, it was odd for me to be networking since I was “the wife” there to support my hubby. And I don’t know if it’s because I look so young or these people are from the Stone Age, but everybody kept on asking me if I work. Technically I’m not working now, but I do work for a living. Why is it so odd for me to be working, and to eventually support Henry through business school? Also why are Asian women always so bitchy? Why can’t they be friendly towards each other? They’re friendly towards Asian men and all the other men. I tried to be friendly and smile, but most of them looked right through me. Ok, so not all Asian women, the Indian women that I met were really nice and friendly. It was mostly the Chinese and Korean ones. And I loved the ones that I met that were from a suburban area who were trying to not associate with Asians, you can run, but you can’t hide, you’re still Asian. I guess some people never grow up.

After the two days (three for Henry), he’s still undecided about NYU and UCLA. Moving to Los Angeles would be a lot of stress, so it really really has to be worth it for us to move, especially if he will have to move back here after two years for work. But it would be nice to live without the bitter cold winters we have here!

Whenever Alan and I looked for apartments to buy, the agents ALL assumed (1) Alan was going to support me or (2) Mom was living with us. I had to tell that I do work and what I do, so there eyes could bug out and they’d stop saying alan is supporting me.

that’s just so insulting. why can’t the female work and support the man?
