King Kong

Henry and I finally got around to seeing King Kong, it’s our first movie of 2006. My big concern was hoping I wouldn’t have to pee during the movie. It’s 185 minutes long! Luckily I was good, but the guy in front of me got up THREE times. We could also hear babies crying, at least two different ones. What kind of parents bring babies to a 9pm movie and why King Kong?
What I liked:
- How cute was it when Kong was ignoring Ann after she ran away and he saved her from being eaten by multiple dinosaurs
- Kong versus the dinosaurs, especially when he bit the tongue off the last one, spit it out and then breaks the dinosaurs jaw and then plays with it
- Even though I don’t care for Jack Black, he was great as Carl Denham
- Andy Serkis was amazing as Kong (and Gollum)
- This is my first Adrien Brody movie and I actually liked him, but I’m not saying I think he’s hot or cute, I still don’t see that
What I disliked:
- The insects, tubeworms and gross creepy crawlies, I’m a girl, it makes me squeamish to watch that stuff
- The crew was unbelievable, they were just so good of heart, they went back to save Carl, Jimmy and Jack, I don’t buy it
- The whole ice skating scene in Central Park, I get why they did it but that doesn’t mean I have to like it
- What sane girl takes charity from a stranger then agrees to be in his film and then gets on his moving picture ship to “Singapore”?
- The whole dinosaur stampede and how many of them didn’t get crushed and killed
Some random questions:
- What happened to all the natives at the end? We never saw them after the sacrifice. They just disappear into thin air?
- Anyone get a little dizzy at the end when the helipcopters are flying in circles and we get a bird eye view?
- Anyone else think Captain Englehorn (Thomas Kretschmann) was kind of cute?
- How did they bring King Kong from Skull Island to New York?
- Anyone used to watch Early Edition? I watched it sophomore year in college because my roommate taped it. It’s so nice to see Kyle Chandler again.

You got a large Mountain Dew?? Are you crazy? You didn’t know how long the movie was? We didn’t get any drinks or food.

The insect scene was pretty disgusting. I thought the movie was good, but too long. In the final scene, I was saying to myself “Kill Him already!” I know me and everyone else was waiting for KK to die! Plus I really needed to pee after drinking my large Mountain Dew!
